On Nemisae Durdael

Hi all.

You’ve likely noticed the past few days the name Nemisae Durdael coming up a lot on my blog.

Over the past several years I have watched her stalk, creep on, harass, sexually harass, guilt trip, and manipulate many folks across FFXIV. I know people that cannot go to RP events without having a back-up plan available in case she shows up. I know people that have had to lock down FC houses so she didn’t show up and stalk them in their own homes, so to speak. I know people that she’s made so uncomfortable that they stopped going to events, or stopped logging in entirely because as soon as they were online she’d be bugging them for something or another.

I am certain I would have become a target if I wasn’t friends with one of her former targets, @mythroscat​, whom she had the audacity to lie about to me.

The way I put it makes it sound mild. It’s not.

Please read the following posts. If you have been targeted by Nemisae, I encourage you to add your voice and your story. If you’re friends with her, I encourage you to listen to what people say and don’t let her continue to get away with acting like this and treating people this way.

It’s about time she stopped.

Lanceloux was not certain exactly the reason why he received a gift, though he was not one to simply disregard something given to him by another, nor was he insensitive about such thoughtful offerings. He took the letter and read it with a perplexed expression; the crows’ feet, at the corner of his auric gaze, were pronounced this evening as he looked about at the gifts. He could imagine his sister’s expression if she saw what he received. In truth, he was not a man that often received, for he was a man that gave instead.

He covered the chocolates with a chuckle, considering perhaps sharing it with his sibling, who turned another spring this day. However, the phoenix he was curious of, for he has never seen a creature of design such as this, and made him wonder where it came from. — what did you have for breakfast?

“I had a lovely breakfast of fine cut ham, scrambled eggs and hashed popotoes, as well as a cup of coffee with a touch of chocolate in it.”

— what can you cook perfectly?

She flushes, giving a smile. “I can cook, and I do bake, but I doubt anything I cook is ‘perfect’ by any means...”

— if you could choose a pet, what what would it be?

"Hmmm, Mayhaps a fluffy cat, I heard that cat’s are very good at sensing when their masters are stressed and will come to their aid... I could use it at times.”

— how is your relationship with your parents?

“My father I don’t see much of nowadays, he’s busy with the Knights sent out to help with the Alliance and the war... but I have fought by his side and our relationship is very sturdy.” She taps her fingers to her chin. “My mother and I have a good strong relationship as well, she has been the one who taught me everything I know and has taught me how to lead and be a good fit for the title of Matron.”

— what is your favorite read?

“I adore a good fantasy novel, one with adventure and romance at every turn. It reminds me of my journey, except much more fairy tale and storybook ending happen in the books I read.. ”

— do you put both socks on first, or one sock, one shoe?

“Oh both socks on before shoes, but normally I wear some sort of tights or have no need for socks really..”

— do you fold your clothes before bed?

"Most of the time yes, and if I don’t, well, just means I’ll do it later when there’s no one in my bedchambers with me.”

— how do you feel about marriage?

“.... I wish I had a fairy tale ending such as marriage, but after the two that left my beloved dead before my eyes... I suppose I’ll never get that happy ending I dream of.”

— who was the last person you crushed on?

Her eyes go wide, before she looks down, face flaring up with color. “T-There is a man... a knight whom I care for deeply, and he does in return... but he is bound to another... for now at least.. and until we can break him free of that curse he will never be mine fully..”

— what does your dream home look like? and where would it be?

“I already live in what most consider a dream home. A lavish mansion in the city of Ishgard with waiters and servants to serve me and my family. I don’t think I would want to live anywhere else..”

— what’s your worst habit?

“I....” She pauses, looking down at her hands. “I am one to trust and attach to people far to easily... given my status and job... I lose close ones often and struggle to keep those I care about next to me... so anyone who gives me the time of day will normally see me attached to them fairly quickly... and that ends up hurting me in the long run when they eventually leave me.”

— what do you do for living and how do you feel about your job?

“I am the next in line for the head of my noble house, I am a part of the house of Nobles in the Ishgardian Congregation lead by Lord Commander Aymeric De Borel.” She stops, not knowing whether to go on or not. “... My other job is... not one most know of, and it’s not really looked at with a kind eye... only people I am truly close to know of it...”

Recently I've stumbled upon a post you made back on Twitter referring to Nemisae Durdael and I was wondering if I should still be careful of her? I play a NPC character and wasn't sure. New to this game still (FFXIV) and want to avoid uncomfortable situations that could potentially end up as drama.

Yeah, definitely.

Several friends have been repeatedly stalked by her, she’s made NPC RPers majorly uncomfortable with her behaviour toward them OOC, she’s just. A lot of trouble. I’ve been lucky in that I haven’t had to deal with her too much directly -- she buggered off when she realized that I’m friends with someone she’s stalked before, but not before lying to me about them!

I welcome folks that have dealt with her antics to reblog this with their stories, I don’t want to tell those stories for them.

Just... be really careful, because she will absolutely try to stalk/guilt/manipulate.

I'd like to write a little message for you all.

I’ve been to FFXIV as a player since May this year. I found a good game with a good community. The game itself doesn’t do a great job making easier to create a community, but you all could do anyways. For this I commend you.

I’m on tumblr for 6 months now. I decided to give a try to RP Online again, since my experiences in the past were always kind of a let down, to be honest. I found a good bunch of roleplayers too. And this is awesome.

Thank you for these times so far, I honestly love to see your art, graphic or writing ones, on my dashboard. And I also like to find your characters appearing here too.

Now... I would like to take this on a more personal level. Don’t worry if you are not mentioned here. It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s just that we probably never talked too much. At least, not that much like these bunch.

@ahlis-xiv, I am still owing some stuff that will probably roll some time. At least we had some interaction with that bumped encounter and tea ahahha. I hope you don’t mind all the politics, food and hyperfast talking that I do. This is how I usually am when I’m comfortable talking to said person.

@prowling-symphonies, probably the person that incentives me most. Every time I falter because of my writing, it’s you that try most to pick me up. I recognize this and thank you, because I will continue doing what I do.

@lady-of-crowns, you were the first true friend that I made in this community. It all began with an ask and now I always have something to share with you. A note comes with that says, "Steph, I hope you like these few gifts I have gotten for you. Inside is chocolates that I made how my mother taught me, they may be a bit bittersweet so be warned before hand, I hope the tools are of use to you as well. -Nemi"

MAKE MY CHARACTER FEEL LOVED.

The box catches him by surprise - is he expecting a delivery...? No, not until next week, so what then must this be? Curious, he examines the small package, surprised at its weight: it has been carefully, lovingly wrapped, shielded against Ishgard’s chill. Nothing to indicate from whence it came. Well, nothing for it! Whistling merrily, Stephanivien carries the package into the manufactory, setting it on the nearest worktable and opening it with care, withdrawing the flower first: where had someone managed to find flowers near frigid Ishgard? Delighted, he sets the flower aside: he will need to find somewhere safe to put it, a splash of color in the dark workshop; Joye will love it. And the rest... he samples one of the chocolates: more bittersweet than the too-sweet confections sold at the Crozier, he is uncertain about the first, but finds the taste more palatable after the second, warming immensely to them - and then he finds the tools tucked safely at the bottom of the box: fine craftsmanship, to say nothing of the decorative lines and patterns inlaid into the metal. (TWs for mentions of self-harm, suicide, manipulation) I was warning a friend about Nemisae Durdael and saw your masterpost of her bullshit. I don't have any evidence of what I went through because all of our interactions were either in-game and not documented, or on an old discord account I lost access to forever ago, sadly. My experience with Nemisae was roughly in March of 2019, and is as follows: I play a male elezen OC, and she became VERY quickly (1/4, since I can't submit anon)

attached. I never showed any romantic inclination toward her, but within a few days of knowing her, she was telling me how attracted she was to me (this is all OOC, btw, we never once even RPed...), how she would masturbate thinking of me, etc. I very quickly grew uncomfortable and tried to distance myself from her quietly, but she would just show up everywhere. My FC house (which is essentially my personal), any place I was hanging out in-game, etc. Within about a week or two (time is hard, but it wasn’t very long), I told her I needed a break. She started telling me how everyone she ever cared about would leave her, etc. etc. (and had previously mentioned that, but included ‘but I know you never would’ etc.), and very much tried to guilt-trip me into sticking around. This was complete with telling me if I left her, she would self-harm or possibly suicide, etc. That was the point where I blocked her. She then immediately attached herself to one of my close in-game friends who I then had to warn about her. (Thankfully they listened to me over her, but the fact that she immediately tried to attach to a close friend of mine she’d never spoken to and only knew of through me was infuriating.)
